Need input on AMMUG forums rearrangement
Submitted by feuerri on Thu, 2007-04-26 08:56. Website Specific ForumFolks, I'd like to simplify the AMMUG forums so that they are more useful to everyone. Right now I think we have too many different forum categories.
Maybe we can reduce them to just three. I was thinking of having these categories: 1) General Discussion, 2) Using Applications, and 3) Building, Coding and Programming. There's really no need for the Announcements and Website forums because those topics can be handled through blogs (which I've made go directly to the front page.)
The General Discussion area would be a catch-all forum for non-technical talk about various topics. The other two forums would break down technical discussions into using pre-built applications (such as Acrobat, Dreamweaver, etc.), and building things (with HTML, JavaScript, ColdFusion, PHP, Flex, etc.) What are your thoughts on this issue?
Thanks,
-- Richard
AMMUG blog posts automatically published to front page
Submitted by feuerri on Thu, 2007-04-26 08:23. Website Specific ForumI have made it so that blog posts by AMMUG users will automatically appear on the front page. This should help keep fresh content flowing there without administrative intervention.

Banner module installed
Submitted by feuerri on Tue, 2006-02-21 13:26. Website Specific ForumI have installed the Drupal Banner module to support advertisements on the website. The first ad I placed on-line was for the O'Reilly User Group Program discounts. We can have more ads, place them in different rotational groups, and have them come on and off the site based on dates. There are a lot of options with this module.
Idea for new forum
Submitted by stonema on Thu, 2006-01-19 16:51. Website Specific ForumCan we add another forum under the technical section called Webpage Design. The focus of the forum would be to discuss tips/tricks and ideas related to the designing and coding of webpages for both computers and handheld devices including graphics, layout, usability (ADA compliance, etc.), quality control, etc. I'm also thinking of creating a books specifically related to the areas covered. Would anyone be interested in this sort of thing?
