Web discussion meeting

You are invited to join us for an upcoming roundtable discussion meeting regarding web development. This is a follow-up to 2 previous meetings that included members of communications departments (editors, writers, administrators, etc.) from around campus as well as some web developers. This is a good opportunity to address technical issues and direction of future development with communications administrators who are in charge of content development and marketing concerns.

If you plan to come, please RSVP to Carol Whatley as we may have to switch to a larger room depending on the number of people coming. Thanks.

This is the information forwarded from Carol Whatley:

We'll have our next Web discussion at 1:00 on Tuesday, April 25, in 67 Extension Hall. We now have answers to questions the presenter didn't have time to respond to during the February seminar. Per the agreement, I sent those to participants of the seminar only, but we will discuss them at the meeting. If you are off campus, please let me know if you'd like to participate and we'll arrange a phone connection.

Included are such issues as
- CMS (one or more than one) throughout a campus
- acceptable sizes for e-newsletters
- how many click-throughs are too many
- what colors work well on the Web
- how often to redesign your site
- density of information on site
- style guide for site
- ideal length of a copy block, of a page
- and more, more, more

We may or may not agree with the presenter's answers, but they are good starting points for discussion--or come with your own questions and issues.

RSVP so we'll know about how many to plan for. Hope to see you on the 25th.
